Carel van Heerden
Founder and Managing Director
Carel is a Mechatronic Engineer with more than 15 years experience as a Project and Technical Manager. He has a passion for food production systems like aquaponics, algal culture, insect farming and utilising technology for good.
Wim Aucamp
Director
Wim has a Civil Engineering degree and has more than 16 years experience as a project manager, entrepreneur and businessman. He has a passion for sustainable infrastructure in terms of water, energy and food production.
Cobus Fourie
Director
Cobus is an Actuary and has more than 15 years experience in the financial services sector. He has a keen interest in sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices and Green Stream Nutrients gave him an opportunity to turn this interest into practice.
Our Story
Green Stream Nutrients was founded by Carel van Heerden. Carel is a Mechatronic Engineer with 10+ years of experience functioning as a Project Manager & Senior Technical Manager. Carel has a passionate heart for food production systems like aquaculture, algal culture, insect farming and utilising technology for good.

The Green Stream Nutrients concept was developed by Carel through good engineering practices underpinned by extensive research and by applying out of the box thinking to integrational sustainable design.

Green Stream Nutrients harmonises renewable energy production systems with aquaponic, algaculture and insect farming, utilising waste as an input. Climate footprint is minimised while production capacity is maximised.
Green Stream Nutrients, founded in June 2019, defined the original concept as well as designed and constructed an aquaponic facility housed within a ventilated poly covered greenhouse. The design, construction and operation of this pilot plant form part of a phased approach to developing and construct the full system.
